Meeting the GO – Eternity

Team LoL

Irwin “Eternity” Chaumette joined GamersOrigin in February 2020 as the Academy team manager. Alongside Glopo, they put the roster back on track and placed among the best Division 2 teams. Thanks to this success, Glopo was appointed as GamersOrigin head coach while Eternity became GamersOrigin League of Legends global manager, taking care of both the LFL and the Academy teams. He told us more about his role and daily life at GamersOrigin.

GamersOrigin: Hello Eternity! Can you present your work at GamersOrigin?
Eternity:
Hello! I am the LoL manager, thus I take care of the two League of Legends teams daily. To simplify, I make sure the players have everything they need at the training center and their apartments. I must also take care of team cohesion by proposing activities and by assisting Glopo when necessary.

GamersOrigin: How are the tasks divided between Glopo and you?
Eternity:
Glopo, as a Head Coach, takes care of everything related to the game, the team strategy and the training schedule. On the other hand, I work on everything outside of the game even if we work together. Glopo often helps me to organize activities while I help him finding scrims or gathering data.

GamersOrigin: What do you like the most about your players?
Eternity:
They have a lot of qualities and it’s an exceptional group. If I have to highlight a specific point, I will praise their positivity and good vibes.

GamersOrigin: What is your role when the team’s results are going down?
Eternity:
When results are poor, the priority is to keep the players focused, ensuring they do not give up and do not lose faith in their ability to win the next game. At the same time, I must consider the result’s causes and find solutions with the staff, I stay proactive to start a positive series.

GamersOrigin: And when the team is doing great?
Eternity:
When everything is fine, the job is quite different. I must ensure there is no excessive confidence and remind the players to keep working as much as possible because defeats can always happen. But I must also enjoy these moments with them because, in esport, everything changes very quickly.

GamersOrigin: What made you particularly proud this season?
Eternity:
Our resilience, coming back from 1-6 to 6-6 and showing everyone we are a good team.

GamersOrigin: How do you foreshadow GamersOrigin’s end of the season?
Eternity:
We just had a 1-2 superweek with defeats against BDS and Vitality, which are direct contestants for the playoffs qualifications. We are, of course, kinda disappointed but we remain confident about the qualification. Once in the playoffs, everything will be possible and will we do everything to qualify in the EU Masters #GOWIN.
